Planting Words
Planting Words – Writing for Sustainability is an all-day event on 22nd July hosted by the Sustainability Centre and featuring talks, performances and writing workshops. Pens of the Earth will be there, along with green gardening consultant Kevin Bryan, Denise Baden of Green Stories, plus writer, academic and activist Toby Litt. More information and tickets (at very reasonable prices!) are available here.
Collective Voices
Pens has an article on the Writers Rebel website called Collective Voices. Written by Rachel Birchley and Helen Salsbury, it’s a celebration of the Pens community, the creative and co-operative energy behind the success of Wild Seas, Wilder Cities, and the subtle revolution which inspired us.
Greening Denmead Fun Day
Pens of the Earth will be at Greening Denmead’s Fun Day on Sat 17th May, 11am – 3pm. There will be food and drink, community project, kids activities and the chance to win a recycled laptop. Entry is free! Details here.
Isle of Wight Launch
Wild Seas, Wilder Cities is launching on the Isle of Wight, 7pm Saturday 26th April, hosted at the Medina Bookshop and compered by island poet Maggie Sawkins.
The evening will feature writers and poets reading selections from the book, guest speakers from the Island Seagrass Project, and a talk by Jamie Marsh, director of Nature Recovery for the Isle Of Wight and Hampshire.
Tickets are £5, redeemable against sales of the book, and available here.
£4000 Raised for Charity!
Our latest transfer of funds to HIWWT for the Solent Seagrass Restoration Project brings our grand total to just over £4000!
Thanks to all of you who have supported us in making this milestone figure!
Book Launch Money
We’ve just transferred £1,620 to HIWWT for the Solent Seagrass Restoration Project – the amount we raised at our launch from sales of tickets, books and litter art. Give yourselves all a pat on the back!
But we’re not done yet: the book has only just found its way into the world and needs your help to branch out. Christmas is on its way (I know, I know) so why not get a copy for a friend or family member?
Book Launch Report
Thanks to everyone who came to our book launch. If you weren’t able to make it (or just fancy reliving some of the highlights) Jackie Green has written up a report of the evening here.
