Inspired by the many fabulous environmental initiatives taking place in Portsmouth, Pens of the Earth was set up to encourage writers to celebrate existing initiatives, and to imagine what might be. Through a variety of events, workshops, performances and publication opportunities, writers are invited to use their skills to help fight climate change.
Drawing inspiration from sources such as Wilder Portsmouth, Streets for People, Plastic Free Portsmouth, School Streets and many others, Portsmouth writers celebrate local environmentalism – bringing a message of hope and empowerment through imagined encounters, actions, events, and settings; increasing awareness of our surroundings, our connections, and our ability to effect change.
