The Musings of a Grey Cloud
by Soumya Jasthi

If only we could ask the clouds
they could tell us stories of water cycle,
how nature recycles water to condense and evaporate.
They could tell us stories of sunlight,
how the sun as part of his journey pierces through them
to catch a glimpse of earth.
They can tell us stories of airplanes,
how they fly above them giving away all their secrets.
Earth is still moving,
clouds are still turning grey
while water is disappearing at a pace.
We still have certain things to consider.
The sea wonders if humans can ever slow down,
the clouds wonder if humans can find more sustainable ideas,
the air travels wanting to be as clean as it can be.
We are trying to find other ways to survive.
The grey cloud suggests maybe more forests can help,
maybe we don’t have to bring anything back from extinction,
maybe we could use what is here.
The grey cloud moves on
pressing the need for cleaner rivers,
clearing paths for them to join the sea,
more awareness towards rain water harvesting,
watchful eyes against deforestation.
The grey cloud is curious …
if artificial rains are really an answer,
if cloud seeding and electrifying them is the future.
Inspiration: I am always inspired by the news and happenings around me. I can get into character and listen to what is being said. And so this poem flowed into me.
